New England Sports 366, #109: Alicia Sacramone

The second-most decorated American gymnast in World Championships history with ten medals was born in Boston and graduated from nearby Winchester High School. Four golds: Floor in '05, Vault in '10, and Team in '07 and '11. Four silvers: '06 Vault, '07 Floor, and Team in '06 and '10. Two bronzes: Vault in '05 and '07. When she retired in 2012, her medals were the most for an American female gymnast at the World Championships (Simone Biles would set the bar higher in 2015).

While an undergraduate at Brown in Rhode Island, Sacramone was a member of the 2008 American Olympic team in Beijing that won silver. She fell in both her floor and beam routines, and some observers blamed her for the team's second-place finish to the Chinese, including the woman herself. Sacramone was quoted as taking responsibility, though many national gymnastics analysts and reporters absolved her, citing a built-in advantage the Chinese had based on degree of difficulty.

Sacramone is retired, and has three children with some old NFL QB named Brady. No, not him - Brady Quinn, former Notre Dame and itinerant NFL signal caller. Like Tom, this Brady's wife is more famous than he is.
